COVID-19 Statement

There is no doubt Covid-19 has affected each and everyone of us. Some of our facilities closed, some village staff worked from home, and public Council meetings were canceled for a period of time. There were many virtual meetings with many Provincial ministries, with Council and staff working tirelessly to ensure we were up to date on the latest requirements in an effort to make our community as safe as possible.

Gold River Days, ball tournament, and many other public group activities were unfortunately cancelled. (I will say though the birthday parades were a huge success and everyone looked forward to Wednesday nights). We hope that, through following both medical guidelines and physical distancing, we can once again celebrate what makes us proud to live in Gold River.

To our front-line emergency workers (medical staff, Ambulance, Fire Department, RCMP) we cannot thank you enough for being “at the ready” regardless of the circumstance. Council would also like to acknowledge the business owners in the community for doing their very best to keep the doors open, even under extremely difficult circumstance. Finally, we thank the community for holding strong, supporting each other, and lending a hand to one another.

In closing there have been many changes regarding the village staff and employees the past two years, and there will be more changes coming as we continue to transition through retirements. We have never seen such a transition before.

I look forward to the next two years as I truly believe, the best is yet to come.

On behalf of Council,

Mayor Brad Unger
