Media Release – Anne Fiddick Aquatic & Sports Centre Opening

Opening date:

The Anne Fiddick Aquatic and Sports Centre will be opening Saturday October 3rd, 2020 with a maximum facility occupancy of 48 persons. Watch for Fall schedule in the mail.

1) COVID -19 requirements for self-check and self-assessment:

Patrons are asked to not enter the centre if they have recently been exposed to a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, they have travelled out of Canada within the last 14 days and are self-isolating or they suspect that they have COVID-19 or if they have any of the known COVID-19 symptoms: fever, chills, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, new muscle aches or headache, sore throat.

Patrons experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms should contact the Island Health COVID-19 information line at 1-877-370-8699 or Health Link at 811 for advice.

2) Accessing Facility and Programs:

The Anne Fiddick Aquatic & Sports Centre schedule will be divided into a number of separate blocks representing a time slot for patrons to book into. (See Fall Aquatic Schedule)

Admission into public swims, the cardio or weight rooms and Aquafit will be advanced booking. For admission into a block; two thirds will be by booking. Booked reservations will only be honored for the first 15 minutes of the block. Patrons who have passes must also book their admission dates, having a pass doesn’t guarantee you access to a block.

Wrist bands will be provided to groups who are in a family/social bubble to allow them to be within the physical restriction distance of two meters.

Patrons will only be able to book twenty-four (24) hours in advance by calling the centre at 250-283-2216 (between 9 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 3 pm or during scheduled pool hours) or by email .

3) Requirements upon entry:

Physical distancing of two arms lengths or 2 meters from others not in your family/social bubble is required.

Wash hands with hand sanitizer provided at the entry to the pool.

Personal face masks are encouraged when entering into and moving through all areas of the Aquatic Centre and while leaving the building. Face masks are to be stored in lockers/cubbies and not worn while on deck or swimming.

Access to the change rooms is limited to 9 patrons at a time. Patrons are encouraged to wear their bathing suit prior to coming to the pool to limit time spent in the change rooms. Do not leave loose clothing on hangers or benches. Shower before and after using the pool. Clean the locker and all contact surfaces you have touched with the disinfectant/sanitizer provided at the public change room cleaning station.

Everyone entering the Anne Fiddick Aquatic and Sports Centre will be required to sign in at the front desk to allow COVID-19 tracing on the part of the Medical Health Officer in the event of a confirmed COVID-19 infected person contact.
