PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN AS FOLLOWS:

LIST OF REGISTERED ELECTORS

Beginning September 1, 2026 until the close of general voting for the election on October 17, 2026, a copy of the list of registered electors will be available for public inspection, at the Village of Gold River office at 499 Muchalat Drive, during regular office hours, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.

Before inspecting the list, a person must sign a statement that they will not inspect the list, make copies, or use the information included in the list except for the purposes of Part 3 – Electors and Elections of the Local Government Act. 

REQUEST TO OMIT OR OBSCURE

An elector may request that their address or other personal information about them be omitted from or obscured on the list of electors.  The elector must contact the Chief Election Officer or the Deputy Election Officer to make this request

OBJECTION TO REGISTRATION OF AN ELECTOR

An objection to the registration of a person whose name appears on the list of registered electors may be made in accordance with the Local Government Act until 4:00 pm on September 11, 2026.  An objection must be in writing and an objection may only be made by a person entitled to be registered as an elector of the Village of Gold River and only on the basis that a person whose name appears on the list of electors has died or is not qualified to register as an elector of the Village of Gold River.

NOTICE OF NOMINATION

Nominations for the offices of:

Mayor – one (1) to be elected

Councillors – four (4) to be elected

Interested persons can obtain information on the requirements and procedures for making nominations including nomination forms at the Village Office where nomination documents are available or online at goldriver.ca/municipal-election/ beginning August 4, 2026 at 9:00 am.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day October 17, 2026;
  • resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months (March 10, 2026) immediately before the day nomination papers are filed September 11, 2026 and
  • not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or  being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:

                        Mayor             $12,323.78                  

                        Councillor       $  6,161.89

THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local elections, the following third party advertising limits apply:

Public Hearing – Monday, December 1, 2025

Pursuant to Section 464 of the Local Government Act RSBC 2015, the Council of the Village of Gold River gives notice it will hold a Public Hearing:

Date:               December 1, 2025

Time:              7:00 pm

Place:             Council Chambers, 499 Muchalat Drive

To consider the proposed Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw No. 760, 2025 and Zoning Bylaw No. 761, 2025.

The proposed bylaws will replace Official Community Plan Bylaw 705, 2018 and Zoning Bylaw No. 706, 2018 and their amendments.  All persons who believe their interest in property may be affected by the proposed bylaw and wish to register an opinion may do so by:

  1. Appearing before Council at the said Public Hearing; and/or
  2. Forwarding written submissions for Council’s consideration, prior to 5:00 pm November 25, 2025, to Village of Gold River, PO Box 610, Gold River, V0P 1G0; email:  .

The bylaws and other written information pertaining to this matter may be viewed at the Village of Gold River office located at 499 Muchalat Drive, Gold River, BC between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive, excluding statutory holidays, from November 23, 2021 to December 1, 2025.

Budget Open House

The Village of Gold River will be hosting an in-person Open House to discuss the 2026 Draft Budget
and Five-year Financial Plan with the Community.

Stop by Village Hall on Wednesday November 12 between 6pm and 8pm to see what projects are proposed
for the year ahead and discuss the budget with Village Staff and Council.

NOTICE OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 126 of the Community Charter, and Council Procedure Bylaw No. 733, 2021, that a Committee of the Whole Meeting of the Council of the Village of Gold River has been scheduled for:

                   DATES:             Tuesday, October 27, 2025

                   LOCATION:      Council Chambers, 499 Muchalat Drive

                   TIME:                7:00 P.M. 

The purpose of the Committee of the Whole Meeting is for the 5-year Financial Plan.

Annual Report

Please be advised that the 2024 Annual Municipal Report is now available for public inspection at goldriver.ca or Annual Report 2024. Council will consider and review the Annual Report at the Annual Meeting during the Regular Council Meeting time on June 16, 2025 at 7:00pm.

All persons who have comments or questions and wish to register an opinion regarding the Annual Report may do so by:

NOTICE OF SPECIAL IN-CAMERA COUNCIL MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 127 of the Community Charter, and Council Procedure Bylaw No. 733, 2021, that a Special Meeting of the Council of the Village of Gold River has been scheduled for:

                   LOCATION:      Council Chambers, 499 Muchalat Drive

                   TIME:                8:00 P.M. 

This meeting will be closed to the public pursuant to the Community Charter section 90(1)(e) the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality.
