Regular Council Meetings of the Village of Gold River are held on the first and third Mondays of each month, except for the months of January, July, August and December (or on Tuesday if Monday is a statutory holiday) in Council Chambers, at the Village Office located at 499 Muchalat Drive, Gold River, BC.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL IN-CAMERA COUNCIL MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 127 of the Community Charter, and Council Procedure Bylaw No. 733, 2021, that a Special Meeting of the Council of the Village of Gold River has been scheduled for:

                   DATE:              Wednesday, November 13, 2024

                   LOCATION:      Council Chambers, 499 Muchalat Drive

                   TIME:                8:00 P.M. 

This meeting will be closed to the public pursuant to the Community Charter section 90(1)(e) the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality.

Budget Open House

The Village of Gold River will be hosting an in-person Open House to discuss the 2025 Draft Budget
and Five-year Financial Plan with the Community.

Stop by Village Hall on Wednesday November 13 between 6pm and 8pm to see what projects are proposed
for the year ahead and discuss the budget with Village Staff
and Council.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 127 of the Community Charter, and Council Procedure Bylaw No. 733, 2021, that a Special Meeting of the Council of the Village of Gold River has been scheduled for:

                   DATE:              Tuesday, October 15, 2024

                   LOCATION:      Council Chambers, 499 Muchalat Drive

                   TIME:                7:00 P.M. 

The purpose of the Special Council Meeting is fto address the Annual Property Tax Exemption Bylaw.

NOTICE OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 126 of the Community Charter, and Council Procedure Bylaw No. 733, 2021, that a Committee of the Whole Meeting of the Council of the Village of Gold River has been scheduled for:

                   DATES:             Tuesday, October 15, 2024

                   LOCATION:      Council Chambers, 499 Muchalat Drive

                   TIME:                7:00 P.M. 

The purpose of the Committee of the Whole Meeting is for the 5-year Financial Plan.

Notice of Development Variance Permit

The property owner of the residence located at 557 Nimpkish Drive is wanting to build a 1.8 metre fence in their exterior side yard setback. Under the Zoning Bylaw, the maximum permitted fence height in an exterior side yard setback is 1.2 metres. Development Variance Permit being applied for will allow the owner to construct a 1.8 metre fence.

Notice is hereby given under section 499 of the Local Government Act to residents of the Village of Gold River that this development variance permit will be presented to Council on October 7, 2024. The proposed permit will be available for public inspection at the Municipal office at 499 Muchalat Drive from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday excluding statutory holidays. Questions of concerns can also be directed to the undersigned.

NOTICE OF ZONING BYLAW AMENDMENTBYLAW NO. 706.12, 2024

Council will consider the adoption of Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 706.12, 2024 at the September 23, 2024 regular council meeting. In accordance with new provincial housing legislation (Section 464(3) of the Local Government Act), the Village is prohibited from holding a public hearing on this bylaw.

Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 706.12, 2024 received first reading at the August 19, 2024 regular council meeting. This bylaw will create a Residential Zone – Comprehensive Development Zone CD.2.  Further the Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 706.12, 2024 will rezone the property being Lot 83, Plan VIP30672, District Lot 637, Nootka Land District, Except Plan 47881, & EXC PL VIP52845 VIP62535 & VIP62535 and outlined in red on the attached map from Fee Simple Half Duplex Residential (RM.1A) to Residential Zone – Comprehensive Development Zone (CD.2).

The outcome of the bylaw amendment is to increase the flexibility for residential development for the entire area of the property being rezoned.

Update to Council Procedure Bylaw

In accordance with Section 124(3) of the Community Charter, notice is hereby given that the Council of the Village of Gold River intends to consider amending “Council Procedure Bylaw No. 733, 2021”.

In general terms, the proposed procedure bylaw will change as follows:

  • The order of proceedings will be have question Period moved before Notice of Motion.
  • Voting will be recorded.
  • Section 22.1 Notice of Motion will be added to provide better clarity on the Notice of Motion procedure.
