Storm/Sanitary Sewer Smoke Testing – Week of December 16, 2024
Smoke testing is scheduled for the week of December 16th.
Smoke testing is a routine maintenance task intended to identify if and where storm or ground water maybe entering the sanitary sewer system identifying potential structural defects and allowing them to be repaired avoiding potential blockages, overflows, or flooding damage.
Residents should pour one or two litres of water down all drains within their home, including floor drains. This creates a water barrier preventing smoke from entering your home through the sewer service and up through plumbing pee traps.
If smoke enters your home, it maybe an indication that there are deficiencies within your household plumbing (eg. leaking vent stack). If this occurs you can try pouring additional water down the affected drain and open a window for ventilation. The smoke should dissipate within a few minutes.
The smoke itself is a non-toxic, odourless, and harmless vapour. It is not indicative of fire or a fire hazard. Call our office at (250) 283-2251 for more information on sewer video inspections or smoke testing.
Sanitary Sewer Video Inspection
Sanitary sewer video inspection work is scheduled to begin in the Chamiss Crescent, Chamiss Place, and Chamiss Courts the week of December 16, 2024. There should be no direct impact to residents; however, some manholes are located within Statutory Right’s of Ways within resident’s rear yards.

The Village Offices and Facilities will close at noon December 24th and reopen on December 30th; regular operations will resume January 2nd.
Garbage Pick-up
Household garbage pick-up is on December 24th and December 31st.
Commercial garbage remains the same

Regular operating hours continue until closing Noon on December 24th, Closed on December 25th, 26th, and January 1st
Arena
Closed December 25th, 26th, and January 1st. Limited hours during the holiday season, call 250-283-2251 to check for availability.
Drop-off Depot Hours
Drop-off will close at noon December 24th, remaining Closed December 25th, 26th & January 1st.

Regular Council Meetings of the Village of Gold River are held on the first and third Mondays of each month, except for the months of January, July, August and December (or on Tuesday if Monday is a statutory holiday) in Council Chambers, at the Village Office located at 499 Muchalat Drive, Gold River, BC.

The Village of Gold River will be hosting an in-person Open House to discuss the 2025 Draft Budget
and Five-year Financial Plan with the Community.
Stop by Village Hall on Wednesday November 13 between 6pm and 8pm to see what projects are proposed
for the year ahead and discuss the budget with Village Staff
and Council.
