Notice of Meeting Cancellation – December 21, 2020

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 127 of the Community Charter, and Council Procedure Bylaw No. 639, 2004, that Regular Meeting of the Council of the Village of Gold River has been cancelled for the meeting scheduled on:

                    DATE:                Monday, December 21, 2020  

                    LOCATION:       Council Chambers, 499 Muchalat Drive

                    TIME:                 7:00 P.M. 

Impacts of COVID-19 Regulations to Anne Fiddick Aquatic Centre

As of November 20, 2020, recreational swim will be suspended at the Anne Fiddick Aquatic Centre until at least December 7, 2020. As well, the gym/workout area will be closed until at least December 7, 2020.

At this time, the following activities are still permitted at the Anne Fiddick Aquatic Centre:

  • lane swim
  • aquafit
  • low impact private classes

As per COVID-19 regulations, these activities will continue to be booked in advance and be in compliance with Provincial regulations.

These actions are in response to the November 19, 2020 Province-wide restrictions. Please check back with the Village web page and social media page for further updates. The Village of Gold River thanks you for your continued understanding and support while we continue to manage COVID-19.

Change of Council Meeting Location

Until further notice, Council meetings will will be held in the Gerry Morgan Memorial Centre. Follow the posted signage and directions to the community hall where the Council meeting will be held.

Facility Closures for Remembrance Day

The following facilities will be closed on Wednesday November 11, 2020 for Remembrance Day:

  • Gold River Village Office
  • Gerry Morgan Memorial Centre
  • Anne Fiddick Aquatic Centre
  • Comox Strathcona Waste Management transfer station (depot)

All facilities will reopen at their normal scheduled hours on Thursday November 12, 2020.

Notice of Special In-camera Meeting

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 127 of the Community Charter, and Council Procedure Bylaw No. 639, 2004, that a Special In-camera meeting of the Council of the Village of Gold River has been scheduled for:

                    DATE:                Monday, November 2, 2020  

                    LOCATION:       Gerry Morgan Memorial Centre, 350 Muchalat Drive

                    TIME:                 4:00 P.M. 

This meeting will be closed to the public pursuant to the Community Charter Section 90(1)(c) labour relations or other employee relations and Section 90(1)(k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.

Council Meeting Change of Location

The Council meeting for Monday October 5, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. will be held in the Gerry Morgan Memorial Centre. Follow the posted signage and directions to the community hall where both the Council meeting and Public Hearing will be held.

Coastal Fire Centre Rescind Open Burning Prohibitions

Effective at noon on Friday, September 25, 2020, all open fires will again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction. (Coastal Fire Centre Information Bulletin)

This rescinding of open burning prohibitions means that campfires will be permitted within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction. However, the Village of Gold River’s Open Fire Regulation Bylaw No. 718, 2019 still applies within the Village. This means that no person shall start or maintain an open fire, or cause or allow an open fire to be started or maintained without first obtaining a permit from the Village of Gold River.
